The Soul Within
By Mikkel Dahl
I am not a man of vast learning, neither of worldly achievements; either of which might grant some credence to my words. But at least until some decades ago, there was a bestseller on this continent and also in Europe. That Book my soul yearned to understand. Now, more than 60 years have passed since I first opened the Bible. I believe that I can indicate a passage or two in support of my personal experiences.
Self preservation is common to all animate life therefore that instinct cannot be labeled “soul”. Neither that of sex, which the Creator inbuilt for the perpetuation of the species. The apostle Paul wrote: ‘And I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Thess. 5:23). Howbeit, persons aplenty do not accept Paul as an authority; neither are we dependent on his word.
That SOUL within varies immensely from person to person. “God is a SPIRIT” said the Messiah. That Creator BEGOT in the dimly mists of bygone eons, a myriad of spirit children, death-less as Himself (See Gen. 1:26-27). Today every human being on earth is INdwelled by one of those deathless spirit children of the Creator Yet that spirit is NOT the soul. But the hopes, aspirations and experiences by the spirit are registered: they make an IMPACT. THAT translates into ‘SOUL.” Those spirit children by the Creator were not all begotten at one split moment, but some groups a thousand years or more1 later. Hence (at least in part) that accounts for the vast difference between the “souls” today. Now, REstated that you may ever remember The thoughts and experiences by the spirit, translate to SOUL; which is a factual reality within the human body of every person. The IMPACTS upon the spirit, weave into a finer fabric, THE VESTURE OF “SOUL.”‘ It is a perfect replica of the human body, and is the directing, or IMpelling force within which leads, or moves us to do this or that.
The Messiah said:”…Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”(Matt. 10:28) “where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched”(Mark 9:48).
We know the worm is a denizen of the soil, which it emulsifies, even though slowly THAT became a clear symbolic portrayal of the indwelling spirit which emulsifies, or vibrates into a finer or higher attunement with the physical body; becoming symphonically attuned with the spirit and the fleshly body, which the Messiah labeled “Soul.” Maybe we could say: “The soul is the replica of the human body, but is the essence of all previous experiences in the past.”
With reference to God destroying soul and body in the unquenchable fire, we should bear in mind that the Supreme Being plans PERFECTION for all of the spirit-begotten children. Therefore, when He perceives that a certain person (indwelled by spirit and soul) is on the DOWNward course – instead of UPward – He destroys that body and soul in the unquenchable fire! THAT ultimately gives the denuded young spirit a fresh start to climb UPward.
Maybe this will help you to better understand: PROJECT a downward slanting beam from your head to meet with an UPward slanting beam from your heart; THAT is what you manifest from day to day. THAT is what others know you to be. And, the essence of that daily manifestation becomes the more finely attenuated substance which is known as the person’s SOUL.
